This Privacy Policy explains how Smart Backload ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use the Smart Backload mobile application on Android or iOS. By using Smart Backload, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Introduction

Smart Backload operates a mobile platform that connects transporters (truck owners and operators) with freight managers and brokers to coordinate freight transportation and utilize available truck capacity, including backhaul loads. This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Smart Backload platform worldwide.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide and improve the Smart Backload platform, authenticate users, and facilitate freight coordination.

2.1 Account, Profile & Load Information

  • Account Information: Full name, mobile phone number, country, and account type (such as individual or company) collected during registration.
  • Profile Information: Optional details such as profile photo, company name, business address, and service areas or preferred routes.
  • Load Request Information: Pickup and drop-off locations, city or address information, truck type and capacity, pricing or bid information, delivery timing, and load instructions submitted through the platform.
  • User Communications: Messages exchanged within the platform that may be stored to enable communication between users, assist with dispute resolution, and maintain service functionality.

2.2 Location, Device & Technical Data

  • Location Information: Device location only when you choose the "Use Current Location" feature while selecting pickup or drop-off locations. Smart Backload does not continuously track your location in the background.
  • Photos and Files: Access to your camera or storage when you upload images such as profile photos, company logos, or shipment-related images.
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and identifiers collected to maintain security, performance, and reliability of the platform.
  • Authentication Data: Phone number OTP authentication and, where enabled, device-level biometric login such as Face ID or fingerprint. Biometric data is processed by your device and is not stored or transmitted by Smart Backload.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Service Delivery: To create and manage user accounts, enable transporters and freight managers to coordinate freight, and operate platform features such as load posting, offers, and auctions.
  • Communication: To send verification codes, platform notifications, shipment status updates, and service-related announcements, including via push notifications.
  • Security & Fraud Prevention: To maintain platform security, detect and prevent fraud or abuse, and protect users against unauthorized access or misuse.
  • Platform Improvement: To monitor performance, fix bugs, and improve the features and user experience of Smart Backload.

4. Data Security and Retention

  • Security: We implement security measures such as encrypted communication and secure authentication to protect your information. However, no system can guarantee absolute security.
  • Retention: We retain information only as long as necessary to operate the platform, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our agreements.
  • Additional Retention Details:
    Active Accounts: We keep your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services.
    Deleted Accounts: If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your data except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal or regulatory obligations.

5. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate and support Smart Backload:

  • Cloud Hosting & Infrastructure: To host the application, store data securely, and deliver the service reliably.
  • Mapping & Location Services: To provide maps and enable selection of pickup and drop-off locations (for example, via Google Maps services).
  • Messaging & Notification Services: To send OTP messages, service updates, and push notifications related to your use of the platform.

These providers only receive the information necessary to perform their services on our behalf and are required to protect it. We do not sell your personal information.

6. Market Insights and Aggregated Data

Smart Backload may generate aggregated and anonymized freight market insights from platform activity.

  • Aggregated Data: We may analyze aggregated and anonymized usage data to understand freight trends, platform performance, and market conditions.
  • No Personal Identification: These insights do not include personally identifiable information and cannot be used to identify individual users.

Aggregated and anonymized market insights may be shared for research or industry analysis without revealing individual user identities.

7. Your Choices

You can control certain aspects of how your information is used and how the app interacts with your device:

  • Device Permissions: You can enable or disable permissions such as location, camera, or storage access in your device settings. Some features may not function properly without these permissions.
  • Account Management: You may update certain account or profile information directly in the app, or request deletion of your account subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Notifications: You can manage push notification preferences through your device notification settings.

8. International Data Transfers

Smart Backload is operated from Saudi Arabia and may process information on servers and infrastructure located in various countries. Where information is transferred internationally, we take steps to protect it in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

9. Children's Privacy

Smart Backload is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that we have collected information from a child, we will take steps to delete it.
